Call for Papers + Abstracts > Submission deadlines: abstracts are due June 20, 2022 / full papers are due October 3, 2022

The UIA World Congress 2023 Copenhagen will take place July 2-6, 2023 in Copenhagen, gathering thousands of participants from the global architectural community. The congress will promote, discuss, create and showcase architecture as a vital tool to achieve the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

To fulfill the vision of ‘Sustainable Futures – Leave No One Behind’, the Science Track the UIA World Congress 2023 Copenhagen has sent out a call for papers that asks how architecture can activate its profound agency in shaping our societies and its potentials for a sustainable, equitable and inclusive future for all.

The UIA World Congress 2023 CPH Science Track has appointed a Scientific Committee of 17 leading international researchers and practitioners that represent an array of architectural expertise and contexts. The Scientific Committee has articulated the call for papers across six science panels that frame the interconnectedness of the 17 SDGs and identify key themes:

Design for Climate Adaptation
Design for Rethinking Resource
Design for Resilient Communities
Design for Health
Design for Inclusivity
Design for Partnerships for Change

Paper submissions must address one of the panels. All papers are peer-reviewed and congress proceedings will be published by Springer.

The Call for Papers welcomes submissions from academics, independent scholars, civil society organizations, practitioners and policy makers to encourage exchanges and learnings across different knowledge and practice silos. The Scientific Committee invites submissions in several formats to enable the inclusion of voices that are not commonly part of academic and professional discourse, underlining that diverse experiences and knowledge are essential to articulate the particular agency architecture holds to contribute to achieving the 17 SDGs.
