The Architecture Department in the College of Architecture & Environmental Design (CAED) at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor for the academic year beginning September 12, 2022. The Architecture Department offers a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Science in Architecture, and minors in Architecture and Sustainable Environments.  The Architecture Department seeks applicants with a demonstrated capacity for critical inquiry into architectural design and representation as they apply to technologies of the building environment and urban environments. Successful applicants will teach undergraduate design studios, lecture courses, and hands-on activity courses across multiple levels of the undergraduate curriculum. Applicants should have an established or emerging record of excellence in teaching, and a research agenda that supports scholarship and informs undergraduate teaching in a collaborative environment.

> Design and Technologies of the Built Environment
The Architecture Department seeks applicants that creatively bridge architectural design and representation with technologies of the built environment. In addition to a successful record of teaching design studio, candidates should have expertise and research interests in material technologies, construction methods, structures, high-performance design, and/or fabrication. Candidates should be able to contribute toward evolving the curriculum to make transparent the social, equity, and climate justice impacts of environmental technologies. Teaching responsibilities will include architectural technology lecture courses, hands-on activity coursework, and core design studios in the undergraduate curriculum.

> Design and Representation of the Urban Environments
The Architecture Department seeks applicants who creatively integrate architectural design and representation as they relate to the urban environment. In addition to a successful record of teaching architectural design studios, candidates should have research interests in one or more of the following or related areas: urban development and regulatory systems, public spaces, the intersection of the design of urban environments and issues of social justice, equity, and climate justice, and/or the creative use of data within the context of architectural design. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop representation and visualization strategies to synthesize information and inform design decision making. Candidates should be able to actively contribute toward evolving the curriculum to address the responsibilities of representation to social justice and equity. Teaching responsibilities will include architectural technology lecture courses, hands-on activity courses, and core design studios in the undergraduate curriculum.
