The LSU School of Architecture seeks applicants for a tenure-track or tenured position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank in the area of sustainable urbanism. The candidate is expected to contribute to the School of Architecture effort to expand the scholarly production and course offerings such as the following:
- social justice and spatial design,
- architectural and urban intervention strategies that promote social equity and conservation of resources,
- interdisciplinary urbanism that engages theories within the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, planning, geography, cultural anthropology and cultural studies.
- understanding the dynamics of segregated urbanization and developing tools to address its legacy within the context of Louisiana, the U.S. and the globe,
- comparative urbanism theory that engages global networks of industrialized geographies, emerging economies and the global south.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate ability to teach design studio and theory courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum degree requirements for these positions include either a Master of Architecture degree or a terminal degree in a closely related field such as Urban Design, Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture with a focus on urbanism. A PhD and/or experience in urban field is an asset. Preferred qualifications include previous teaching experience in urban design and sustainable development and publication in areas of expertise.
